UCLan Golf aim for National title

UCLan Golf 1st team face Stirling 1st on Wednesday as they bid to claim the BUCS National Championship.

After cruising to the Premier North league title, knock-out wins against Buckingham New 1st, Bournemouth 1st and Exeter 1st have taken UCLan to the final for the second year in a row.

Victory would cap a memorable season for UCLan Golf, with their achievements also recently recognised at the Preston Sports Awards.

Golf programme director David Grecic commented: "This continued success is testament to the effort and excellence of the students, coaches and staff on the UCLan Portfolio of Golf degrees delivered at our Associate School Myerscough College's campus. Their drive to constantly improve their performance has led to sustained success for all three UCLan teams and in our Golfers being voted the City's FE/ HE Team of the Year.

"This work ethic has also been reflected in some wonderful individual performances this year - most recently Louis Tomlinson's victory at the R&A Bursary Championship at St Andrew's this month. Best wishes to the team and staff - you definitely deserve all the accolades you're receiving."

The final takes place at Formby Golf Club, Golf Road, Formby, Liverpool L37 1LQ, from 8.00 am tomorrow.
