UCLan Tigers have been busy raising money to fund their participation at the British Cheerleading Association (BCA) University Nationals 2014 later this month.
Taking place on April 17th & 18th in Telford, the competition will see universities from across the country compete in different aspects of cheerleading.
We spoke to team Treasurer Hannah Tyler to find out more:
"Our fundraiser consisted of us performing our routines to showcase our skills and improvements to friends and family in the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre.
"Within cheer we have the full co-ed team which consists of 32 members (including two boys) performing our full competition routine. This is made up of various jumps, dances, stunts and tumbling, all of which require dedication and intense practice to ensure the moves are clean and in time to the music.
"We also have three stunt teams, each consisting of five members, and they perform various stunts in quick succession across different levels of difficulty. We have a level 1 all girl stunt team, level 2 all girls stunt team and level 2 co-ed stunt team (three boys & two girls).
"There is also a Pom dance team, which is a choreographed dance routine with pom-poms. This type of dance requires a level of dance experience and flexibility due to its high demands.
"In addition to performing the routines we also held a cake sale, with lots of homemade cakes made by the team, and a raffle with prizes kindly donated by many shops throughout Preston City Centre.
We managed to raise over £700 which will all go towards paying for our hotel and possibly even petrol money too.
"The whole team would like to thank our Fundraising Officer Evie Oxton, Head Coach Natalie Gibson, Team UCLan and particularly the help with advertising by the staff at Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre."
