Wheelchair Basketball set for lift off at UCLan
UCLanSport is proud to be able to offer many different types of activities at the University.
As the North West Regional Centre for British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB), we're working hard to establish regular sessions at UCLan for this ever-growing sport.
Wheelchair Basketball is the only fully-inclusive sport offered at UCLan, providing opportunities for disabled and non-disabled students to play on the same team.
Our students can take advantage of free or subsidised courses and qualifications provided by BWB.
Tournaments and outreach work offer students excellent opportunities to put what they learn into practice and gain invaluable experience.
UCLanSport is also looking to establish its own team, with the ultimate aim of securing a place at the University Wheelchair Basketball Championships 2016.
Getting involved in the sport as a player, official or coach offers excellent experience for students embarking on careers in a range of areas including PE teaching, sports coaching, sports development, sports management, sports marketing, sports science and therapy.
Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre (STFSC) is hosting two events during the next fortnight which provide opportunities to get involved.
On Thursday, 5th March, 2-4pm, there is an open session for students being held as part of the University's Disability Awareness Week, whilst on Tuesday, 17th March, 10.30am-2pm, the North West Regional Schools Inclusive Zone Basketball Competition will take place.
